Donald Lloyd is a native of Columbus, Ohio where he acquired a strong fascination for urban
artistic styles as a teenager growing up in the east-side of the inner-city. Recognizing their
son’s natural artistic talent early on, Don’s mother and father provided the support and
encouragement he needed to further develop his passion for art.
In 1986, Don earned a four-year scholarship to Columbus College of Art & Design, however;
feeling the pressures and responsibilities of adulthood as so many young artists do, Don made
the difficult decision to cut his studies short and to join the mainstream workforce. Having developed
a successful career in the field of Information Technology, it left little time for his passion of drawing
& painting. Don’s talent remained dormant, however, his dream never faded.
Nearly a decade later, an expected lay-off gave Don the opportunity he needed to “re-focus” on
his life’s passion. His renewed interest in art along with support from family and friends provide an
unwavering source of motivation and inspiration.
Often mirroring his life experiences, Don’s paintings bring to the canvas his interpretations of the “urban life experience.”
